The Tehachapi Police Department has released tips on how parents can keep their children safe this Halloween.

Tehachapi PD is encouraging parents to choose flame-retardant costumes and to use makeup instead of masks. They are also encouraging trick-or-treaters to plan a safe route, to travel in groups, and to start while there is still daylight. As for the treats, Tehachapi PD says to inspect your child's candy before they eat it, and to not eat candy with torn or open wrappers.
