On Monday, officers from the Tehachapi Police Department received information that an adult male was sending harmful matter electronically to a minor and was soliciting the minor to engage in sex acts. 

Officers of the Tehachapi Police Department conducted an investigation and identified the suspect as 29 year-old Drew Walterkhie Kaupelis of Tehachapi.

During the initial investigation, officers were able to determine Kaupelis was sending the harmful matter from a motel room in Rosamond, California and he was attempting to arrange a meeting with the minor. 

Officers from the Tehachapi Police Department and Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department Rosamond substation established surveillance on Kaupelis’ motel room.

A short time later, Kaupelis left the motel room in an attempt to meet the minor. 

As Kaupelis walked to the arranged meeting location, he was contacted by officers and taken into custody without incident.

Kaupelis was later booked into the Kern County Jail on the charges of exhibit lewd material to a minor, contact a minor with the intent to commit lewd acts and arranging to meet with minor to commit lewd acts.
