Tehachapi resident wins state Engineer of the Year Award

TEHACHAPI, Calif. — The American Society of Civil Engineers has announced that a local Tehachapi engineer is being named Engineer of the Year at the state level.

Tehachapi City Engineer Jay Schlosser is the recipient of the Civil Engineer of the Year in the Public Sector Award winner for the State of California.

According to a press release, Schlosser has been instrumental as City Engineer in the transformation of the City of Tehachapi downtown over the decade and has overseen the design and construction of numerous water system, wastewater system, transportation, and beautification projects within the City.

Schlosser won the San Joaquin Valley area Engineer of the Year award on July 1, 2019 from ASCE. He advanced to the Southern California section category and received Engineer of the Year on September 3, 2019.

Jay is now one of 10 finalists in the United States being considered for the National Engineer of the Year Award, which will be announced in the coming months.
