BAKERSFIELD, Calif — A ten-year-old boy is now in stable condition at a children's hospital in Los Angeles after sustaining major injuries from "surfing" on top of a car driven by his mom.

According to California City Police Department, police responded to reports of a child being struck by a vehicle near Neuralia and Ironwood Avenue around 4:08 p.m. Friday.

Cal City PD says the child was "surfing" on the hood of a silver 2012 Nissan driven by his mother after she had approached him while playing in the street. The boy allegedly climbed on top of the hood and his mom continued to drive the car home. At some point, the boy allegedly slipped and fell down in front of the car, where he was run over.

According to a friend of the family, the boy is suffering from two broken shoulders, a broken pelvis, some fractured ribs and internal bleeding.

Cal City PD says they are still looking into the events leading up to the incident and determining if possible charges will be filed.
