Tennessee high school dance coach charged with criminal exposure to HIV, statutory rape

Posted

A dance coach is facing charges after he allegedly exposed a minor student to HIV after repeatedly having sex with him.

John Conner III met the victim on a social networking site, WREG-TV says.

According to an affidavit, Conner arranged to meet up with the student, having unprotected sex several times. The teacher allegedly never disclosed he had HIV.

Conner, who was 26 at the time, is also accused of exchanging sexually-explicit texts and photos with the then 16-year-old victim.

The suspect's brother says Conner is innocent, and that he wouldn't have engaged in sex with a minor.

The accused first learned he was HIV positive in 2012, his brother says.

The dance teacher was arrested Friday and charged with criminal exposure to HIV, soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor and statutory rape by an authority figure.

Conner was once featured on the Lifetime show "Bring It."
