Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a fatal crash in South Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Bakersfield Police Department confirmed two people are dead after a crash in South Bakersfield Wednesday night.

According to the BPD, officers responded to a traffic accident just before 10:30 p.m., in the area of Ming Ave. just off of Union. When officers arrived they found that a driver ran off the road and hit a utility pole, breaking it in half before hitting another object and tearing the vehicle in half.

BPD said a man who was thrown from the vehicle and a woman who was found inside were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other men had major injuries and were taken to Kern Medical.

This incident is still under investigation, and anyone with any information is asked to call BPD at (661) 327-7111.
