The battle for the youth vote

Posted

The youth vote is always hard to attract every election season.

However, this has not stopped organizations and politicians from trying to encourage them to join their sides.

During the former Bernie Sanders campaign, it was clear he had managed to excite young voters. Now, other politicians are trying to do the same.

The Dolores Huerta Foundation started a campaign of their own Wednesday morning in Downtown Bakersfield. As a part of it, they will be going into neighborhoods and knocking on doors stressing the importance of voting and the impact that it can have.

On the other side of town, Assemblywoman Shannon Grove was trying to gain support of the young vote by visiting CSUB and speaking with students.

During the luncheon she took questions from students and explained her positions on various issues.

Election day keeps getting closer. As the days go by, politicians and organizations will continue to try and rile up as many people as they can to go to the polls and vote.

Dolores Huerta says voting is so important because it is one of the most important tools to have in order for the voice of the people to be heard.
