The Kern County Sheriff Department found human remains in Cal City over the weekend.

Deputies say they were called out to Munsey Road and Neuralia Road just north of Cal City, near Cantil on Friday. 

When officials arrived on the scene, they found what they describe as skeleton remains. 

Deputies say this is now a homicide investigation.
