It's been in the works for years.

The Bakersfield Police department's motorcycle unit has been downsizing, due to safety concerns and workplace injuries, the once proud BPD motor division has one bike.

One motor cop on patrol, and when the BMW motorcycle reaches it's retirement age, it's over.
For all intensive purposes, Justin Enns is the last motorcycle cop.

He joined the motor unit in 2011, and has watched the numbers dwindle.

City Manager Alan Tandy said he'll never rule out the return of the unit in the future, with advancements in technology.

But sooner or later, the bikes will be gone, replaced entirely by patrol cars.
