The California LGBT Rural Summit came to the Visalia Convention Center Thursday as part of the LGBT Rural Summit Series.

The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Civil Rights in collaboration with the National Center for Lesbian Rights and The True Colors Fund engage with LGBT rural communities across the country to host the summits.

The USDA and other federal agencies share information on policies, services, and programs while promoting and strengthening the LGBT communities in less urban areas.

The day long summit discussed issues ranging from rural housing loans to bullying. This was the first series stop in California.
