The Kern River Conservancy is inviting the public to join in on its Third Annual Great Kern River Clean Up.
This annual event invites residents from all over the central valley and as far south as Orange, Ventura and Los Angeles counties to participate in our biggest river clean up event of the year.
Last year volunteers collected more than 1,100 pounds of trash out of the Lower Kern River with the assistance of the Unites States Forest Service and other community organizations from Bakersfield and surrounding areas.
Event coordinators said this is a great opportunity for visitors to see the community come together to give back to our Wild & Scenic Kern River.
BJ's restaurant in Bakersfield will be sponsoring the event by providing free pizzas to all the participants of the event.
The group is meeting at the Upper Richbar picnic site on the Lower Kern River starting at 10 a.m.
The clean up lasts until 2:00 p.m.
