Third suspect involved in 2015 murder sentenced to 24 years

UPDATE (August 18, 2:30 p.m.): Ernesto Victor Lopez was sentenced today to 5 years in prison. Lopez pleaded no contest last year to false imprisonment with violence, two other charges were dropped.


Jessie Gomez was sentenced on Thursday to 24 years and 8 months for his involvement in the 2015 murder of Justin Brewer.

Gomez is the third to be sentenced for involvement in Brewer's murder, where his body was found burned in an orange orchard off Highway 166.

Amber Sanders was sentenced earlier this week to 5 years in prison after pleading no contest to accessory to murder.

Matthew Mejia was sentenced to more than 36 years after he pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and other charges.

Ernesto Lopez is the fourth and final person tied to the crime and will be sentenced tomorrow.
