and last updated

The Park at River Walk was decorated in red, white and blue as 1,000 American flags were set up in tribute to veterans and first responders.

The flags are just part of the celebration for the weekend-long event.

Starting Saturday at noon, the event officially kicks off with the national anthem and opening of flag display.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday the flag will be raised at 8:00 a.m. and lowered at 8:00 p.m.

The flags will be on display all weekend and on Monday events will be held throughout the day to remember those who have served.

A full ceremony will take place Monday starting at 11:30 a.m. and goes until 1:30 p.m. and will include a visit from Congressman Kevin McCarthy. There will be a patriotic performance flag ceremony and other speakers as well.

There will also be a patriotic fair on Monday with booths from local charities, veterans organizations, food vendors and more.
