Thousands of PG&E customers are without power early Monday in Central and South Bakersfield, the company's website said.

Most of the more than 5,200 customers are in an area from Highways 178 at Golden State Avenue south to Planz Road, and from Hughes Lane east to Union Avenue.

Several traffic lights in Downtown Bakersfield were out of power, so traffic may be impacted.

The website reports that customers lost power at around 8:30 a.m. and power is expected to be restored at around 11:45 a.m.

A cause of the outage wasn't immediately known.
