BAKERFIELD, Calif. — According to Kern County Park Rangers a man opened fire at a Hart Park paddle boat vendor Saturday afternoon.
Both the Kern County Sheriff's Office and KCPR were dispatched to the area of Hart Lake around 4:40 p.m. for reports of an altercation. When KCPR arrived on scene they heard shots fired.
According to Rangers, a man and two women were parking an SUV when they hit a paddle boat owned by a boat rental for Hart lake. The man and paddle boat vendor got into an altercation when the man threw a glass bottle at the vendor. Rangers say the man retreated to his SUV and pulled a 9 mm gun on the vendor and opened fire.
Rangers say the man fled the scene and ran into the lake. The suspect and two women were taken into custody. KCSO search and rescue retrieved the 9 mm gun from the lake.
No one was injured in the incident.
