BAKERSFIELD, CA. — The annual Go Red for Women luncheon is taking place today at the Bakersfield Marriot.
The event is hosted by the American Heart Association. It is meant to raise awareness for women dealing with heart disease.
Local businesses and hospitals are part of the event's health expo to provide resources for anyone attending.
"Heart disease is the number one killer for women in the united states," Liz Faris, American Heart Association.
Some of the symptoms for women experiencing heart disease include jaw pain, chest pain and trouble breathing.
"You can overcome heart disease through a healthy lifestyle.. dieting and exercise," said Faris.
