The City of Bakersfield is advising drivers to avoid 24th Street between the Kern River Bridge and C Street next week as paving continues along that stretch of roadway.
According to the city, paving operations "will require the closure of the inside eastbound and westbound traffic lanes within this area Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29. The closures are expected to be in place between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., each day. One lane will remain open in each direction while work is underway."
The city encourages drivers to seek alternate routes or allow extra time.
It also asks drivers to "please slow down and watch for construction workers and equipment while driving through the work zone."
