If you take M Street, you might want to think of alternative routes starting Wednesday.

According to the city of Bakersfield, M Street on the north side of 24th Street will be closed starting Wednesday, February 26th at 6 a.m. to perform underground work. This closure will remain in effect until Monday, March 2nd. There will be no access to or from M Street and 24th Street during the closure.

The city recommends that drivers needing to travel in the area "use L Street during the closure. Detour signage will be in place. Two lanes will remain open to westbound traffic on 24th Street while work is underway."

The city reminds drivers to slow down in the construction zone and be aware of workers and equipment.
