A tree planting for Gabby Soto, a beloved Wasco teacher took place Saturday.
Soto was killed in a car accident last June. Soto was seven months pregnant at the time of the accident and her unborn daughter died in the accident as well, she was given the name Alba Elliot.
Ten California Native Oak and Sycamore tree were donated by the Tree Foundation of Kern who received a grant from Cal Fire. The tree planted Saturday will be in memory of Soto and baby Alba. Soto's family said this was a fitting tribute because Gabby was a lover of nature.
