Lane closures on Truxtun Avenue will continue this week as construction work continues on the Truxtun Avenue Operational Improvement Project.

Daytime lane closures are scheduled for westbound Truxtun Ave. from May 7 through May 11, according to the City of Bakersfield. The outside westbound travel lane from Myrtle Street to Oak Street will be closed Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The westbound right-turn lane to northbound Oak Street will also be closed each day between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Travelers should expect delays.

As far as nighttime closures go, the westbound outside lanes on Truxtun Avenue, from Oak Street to State Route 99, will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through May 18. The closures are needed for the relocation of fiber optic lines.
