BPD: Man arrested for burglarizing house in southwest Bakersfield while victim was sleeping

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A 20-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly burglarized a home while the victim was sleeping.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, around 2:17 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a burglary in-progress in the 2500 block of Windermere Street in Southwest Bakersfield.

BPD says the victim awoke to find a masked suspect going through items in his bedroom closet. When the victim confronted the suspect, he fled from the residence.

Officers circulated the area and located 20-year-old Isaiah Juarez walking a few blocks away from the residence. BPD said when officers searched Juarez, they found several items stolen from the victim's home.

Juarez was arrested for burglary and later booked into the Kern County Jail.
