Two arrested during DUI and driver's license checkpoint

Two people are behind bars and nearly a dozen others were cited for improper licensing, during a DUI and driver's license checkpoint this weekend.

Bakersfield police held the checkpoint on New Stine Road, near Planz Road, from 6 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday.

According to BPD, 970 vehicles were screened and seven drivers were detained to be further evaluated.

Two were arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence, police said. One of those drivers was previously convicted of DUI.

Seven drivers were cited for driving without a license and four others were found to be driving with a suspended license.
