BAKERSFIELD – Two people are in custody after they were found with a gun and live ammunition.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Clement Rhodes and 29-year-old Phylicia Mitchel were taken into custody following a search warrant that was executed by deputies Monday night.
KCSO conducted the search in the area of East 9th Street and Union Avenue at about 11:30 p.m.
KCSO confiscated a loaded firearm and multiple live rounds of ammunition.
KCSO says Rhodes had a gun on him and attempted to get rid of it when deputies approached him.
Rhodes faces several charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm, gang member in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed unregistered firearm, possession of ammunition by a felon, carrying a loaded firearm.
Mitchell also faces several charges including possession of a concealed unregistered firearm, possession of ammunition by a felon, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
