BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A woman and her boyfriend were arrested after officials found a four-year-old girl unsupervised in Oildale.
According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, on Wednesday deputies were dispatched to Wilson Avenue after a report that a four-year-old girl was found outside and unsupervised. The little girl led deputies to a house where they found 29-year-old Michael Hering sleeping in a bed.
After obtaining a search warrant for the house, deputies said they found a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin and narcotics paraphernalia indicative of narcotics sales. Deputies noted that the meth was found in an area where the little girl could easily reach it.
The little girl's mother, 27-year-old Brandi Shannon, eventually arrived at the house. It was determined that Hering was in a dating relationship with Shannon.
Both Hering and Shannon were arrested for child endangerment, being under the influence of a controlled substance and multiple narcotics related offenses. The juvenile was taken into protective custody and Child Protective Services was notified.
