Good news for the Kern County District Attorney's office.
District Attorney Lisa Green announced Wednesday the department will be adding two entry level deputy district attorney positions after receiving funding from the Community Corrections Partnership (CCP).
The funding enables the department to have the two positions for the next three years.
The District Attorney's office plans on adding these two positions to their misdemeanor unit and will begin prosecuting all misdemeanor cases again.
The funding comes after the department told 23ABC last month that three deputy district attorney positions had been cut and, because of the smaller staff, the office would not prosecute some misdemeanors.
The Board of Supervisors must approve the funding from the CCP before it takes effect.
