Two girls rescued from human trafficking in Bakersfield

The Bakersfield Police Department says they have rescued two girls in a suspected case of human trafficking. 

Police say they received a report that two girls, under the age of 18, were being trafficked. At the time of the report, one of the victim's whereabouts was not known. Officials say they conducted a follow-up investigation and located the second victim at a local motel. 

Three suspects were arrested in the case. Police say 25-year-old Fredrick Smith and 50-year-old Loretta Smith were arrested on charges including Human Trafficking of a minor by fear or force, pimping, pandering, and conspiracy. Fredrick Smith is also facing rape charges. The third suspect is identified as 23-year-old Eric Hodges, he is facing rape charges.
