Two injured after shooting in East Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield Police are investigating a shooting in East Bakersfield that sent two people to the hospital.

BPD tells 23ABC that they received a ShotSpotter activation and several phone calls just after 1 a.m. on Tulare Street between 2nd Street and 9th Street.

At this time, officers did not locate the exact scene of the shooting but found a car into a tree at Tulare and 9th Streets.

One person was found inside suffering from a gunshot wound, according to BPD. He was taken to Kern Medical with unknown injuries.

BPD says another person was driven to the hospital with gunshot wounds around the same time.

A witness tells 23ABC he heard about 6 shots around that time this morning.

The investigation is ongoing.
