BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UPDATE (9:30 a.m.): The repairs to a damaged telecommunications box on Truxtun Avenue have been completed and the two lanes closed for the repairs have been reopened.

Two lanes of traffic on Eastbound Truxtun have been shut down due to "unplanned repairs" on Wednesday.

The City of Bakersfield saying the two lanes are near Empire Drive.

City officials haven't been able to confirm what the repairs are for, but say they're "working to complete the repairs as quickly as possible."

Right now it's not known how long the lanes will be shut down.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible.
