Bakersfield Police said Friday night officers tried to stop a vehicle near Stockdale Highway and Highway 99. 

The car pulled over, but when officers walked up to the vehicle, it took off. 

Officers on the ground stopped the pursuit because the car was going too fast.

However, the air unit continued following the vehicle as it traveled from Bakersfield to Buttonwillow to McKittrick to Taft and eventually back to Bakersfield.

Officers said ultimately the driver stopped at Mark Ct. and Benton St. near Valley Plaza Mall.

Officers arrested Michael Reed, 32, and Jon Lozano, 37.

Reed and Lozano are being held on multiple charges related to the pursuit. Reed also had two outstanding felony warrants.
