Two men arrested for mail theft in Southwest Bakersfield

Police arrested two men for mail theft early Friday morning in Southwest Bakersfield

An officer saw a U-Haul truck parked near a community mailbox near S Allen Road and Ming Ave.

Officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, but the driver, 60-year-old Robert Raney, led officers on a pursuit.

Raney and the passenger, 28-year-old Tony Neal, were detained.

Officers found a large amount of stolen mail, narcotics, and narcotics paraphernalia. Some of the mail items were related to several victims of mail theft.

Raney and Neal were arrested for mail theft, possession of narcotics and vehicle pursuit.

Neal had been suspected of mail theft in the past.
