UPDATE (Sept. 22, 2016): A search warrant filed with the Kern County Court, claims surveillance video shows Cervantes in the area of the homicide at the time of the homicide.

 

After multiple interviews, the warrant claims Cervantes owed one of the victims, Jeffrey Villegas, money for work he performed on Villegas' home.

 

Cervantes allegedly pulled a gun on Villegas two days before the murder.

 

UPDATE (Sept. 7,2016): Delano police have arrested a suspect, Carlos Cervantes, 32, in relation to the case. It is being treated as a homicide.

On September 4, 2016, at about 8:40 p.m., Delano Police Department patrol officers were dispatched to W. 15th Place regarding a citizen who found two unresponsive males at a home.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but the males were pronounced deceased on scene.

One of the men were identified as 30-year-old Jose Ceja Pacheco and the other has been identified as 51-year-old Jeffrey Eric Villegas.

 

The cause of death has yet to be determined and the identities of the second man are being withheld until notification to the next of kin can be accomplished.
