BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Two people have been arrested in connection to a homicide in Southwest Bakersfield earlier this week.

Bakersfield police were called to the 1400 block of McDonald Way just after 10 p.m. Tuesday where they found a man dead inside an apartment. He was identified by the Kern County coroner as Victor Manuel Vasquez, 37.

The Bakersfield Police Department arrested Louie Perez, 45, at the scene of the crime.

During the investigation, police identified Daniel Animas, 36, as the second suspect. Investigators arrested Animas Wednesday at 3 a.m. after he was found at a residence in Shafter.

The coroner stated that Vasquez sustained traumatic injuries. A postmortem examination revealed the cause of death was blunt-force head and sharp-force trauma, with the manner listed as homicide.
