UPDATE (June 19, 2017 10:50 a.m.): The Coroner has identified the two people killed in the vehicle as 77-year-old Terry Yenson and 68-year-old Annette Yenson of Garden Grove, California.

Two people are dead following a car accident on the Southbound 5 freeway near Highway 223.

According to CHP, the accident happened just before 6 p.m. Friday night. 

Officials say a man was driving a 2011 Toyota southbound on Interstate 5 when he began veering off the road. 

The car overturned in irrigation canal. A man and woman were also traveling inside the vehicle. All three are believed to be residents of Garden Grove, CA. 

All of the occupants were transported to local hospitals. The driver and female passenger succumbed to their injuries. 

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the accident. The crash is still under investigation.
