UPDATE: One man dead after he was shot in east Bakersfield

UPDATE on 10/8: Police say the man who was shot Saturday night on South King Street and East 3rd Street has died. Police found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds just after 8 p.m. Saturday night and the man later died at the hospital from his injuries. 

Family has identified the victim as 28-year-old Maurice Wright. His brother released the following statement:

"His name is Maurice Wright 28yrs old of Bakersfield, He graduated from Highland High School. He was a Loving Father of 3 with a Full time job and a Smile that would light up a room. He was killed as he left a store after buying food for his Daughters Birthday Party that was expected to take place today. He was enjoying life on the right path only to become a victim to violence and he will be greatly missed."

UPDATE: Police say that one victim was shot and is suffering from moderate to major injuries. The other victim, who was originally reported as being a victim of a shooting, was not hit by gunfire and is cooperating with police.

Bakersfield Police are investigating in east Bakersfield after one person was shot near South King and East 3rd Street. 

Police say they got the call at around 8:10 p.m. on Saturday and arrived to find two victims of a shooting. The victim is said to have moderate to major injuries.

Police say they are looking for three black males who fled in a dark SUV in connection to the shooting.
