Two men were arrested in Ridgecrest for assault with a deadly weapon, battery and vandalism early Saturday morning.

According to the Ridgecrest Police Department, around 2:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to Fastrip located at 345 S. China Lake Blvd. for a physical altercation involved armed subjects.

"It was reported that one of the subjects was armed with a baseball bat.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim. The victim stated he was sitting in his vehicle when he was attacked by a subject. The victim was struck several times in the face before he was able to escape his vehicle. Once out of the vehicle, a second subject approached him.

The victim armed himself with a baseball bat. One of the subjects produced a knife from his pocket and continued the altercation.

During the incident, the victim was able to strike both subjects with the baseball bat causing them to flee from the victim.

One of the subjects returned to the parking lot and used the knife to flatten one of the tires on the victim’s vehicle.

The subject then got into a different vehicle and began driving out of the parking lot. As he did, he made a deliberate swerving movement toward the victim in an attempt to run him over. The driver of the vehicle proceeded to drive over a median in the roadway and then picked up the other subject. The vehicle fled eastbound on E. Wilson Ave.

Officers were able to view the surveillance footage and were able to identify Neko Ortiz, 25, and Noel Sanchez, 21, as the suspects involved in the altercation.

Officers continued the investigation until both suspects were located and arrested.
