Unemployment down in Kern County in April

Some good news for Kern County's economy as unemployment numbers for April show a drop from the month before.

The Employment Development Department released numbers for April that show the unemployment rate at 10.6 percent down from 11.6 percent from March. 

While Kern County's unemployment figures showed improvement over the course of the month, they still were twice the rate of the state average.

In California the unemployment rate for April was 5.2 percent. Nationally, that figure is at 4.7 percent.
