BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The United Way of Kern County and The Blessing Corner are teaming up to get local students the supplies they need before heading back to school.
New backpacks with school supplies will be provided to children in need before starting school. The organizations say, now more than ever, children will be needing school supplies as they start distance learning away from the classroom.
The non-profits have put together 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies, as well as dental hygiene kits, food and snacks, immunizations and face masks.
It's happening Friday, August 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Blessing Corner at 101 Union Avenue. It's a drive-up event. School-age children must be present to receive the school supply items.
