Unknown chemicals found in Shafter, HazMat called out

UPDATE (7:32 a.m.): Public Health says the chemicals that were found are illegally dumped pesticides. Environmental Health is still on scene to help with cleanup and removal.


Kern County Public Health's HazMat team is assessing a situation in Shafter.

Kern Public Health sent out a tweet around 7 a.m. showing bottles of chemicals in the area of Cherry and Burbank.

It's not known what the chemicals are.
