The race to represent Kern County in the U.S. House of Representatives' 23rd District will see two county residents do battle.

Unofficial results show incumbent Kevin McCarthy, who also serves as House Majority Leader has nearly 70 percent of the vote.

Tatiana Matta, of Rosamond, is in second with nearly 12 percent of the vote. With all precincts reporting, numbers show Matta is edging out Wendy Reed, who has about 10 percent of the vote.

The total vote differential between the two is less than 1,500 votes with Matta taking 9,416 votes and Reed taking 7,937.
