The Governing Board received a verbal update on the 2018 wildfire season to date.
According to the report, the 2018 wildfire season set a new record for the largest fire in state history - the Mendocino Complex fire, which impacted the Valley's air quality during the summer season.
The Valley Air District Governing Board also accepted $5.4 million from the United States Environmental Protection Agency to replace heavy-duty trucks and agricultural equipment in the San Joaquin Valley.
According to the report, the District's proposals were selected for funding from the highly competitive Diesel Emission Reduction Act program and the funding awarded to the District represents 42 percent of the total funding available in EPA Region 9.
The funds will be used in the Districts Heavy-Duty Engine Program to replace over 100 trucks and 100 agricultural tractors with new, cleaner equipment.
