On November 19, at approximately 8:35 p.m., the Bakersfield Police Department responded to East 3rd Street and Union Avenue for a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they discovered that the pedestrian, a Hispanic man in his 50s was struck while walking outside the crosswalk and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, an adult man was not injured. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Police do not believe that speeding, drugs and/or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
