It was just after 3:30 a.m. on Friday October 06, 2017 when 64 year-old David McDanel was driving a 2011 GMC going eastbound and hit 30 year-old Carla Fowler as she walked directly into the path that McDanel was driving on. 

McDanel was unable to stop his vehicle and hit Fowler with the left front and left side mirror of the vehicle. 

Fowler sustained major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center. 

It was determined that Fowler was under the influence when she was hit by McDanels vehicle.
