UPDATE: The Kern County Sheriff's Office has identified the teen that was struck and killed on Union Avenue as 14-year-old Kaylie Corbella of Bakersfield.


A teen is dead Wednesday night after being hit by a car on Union Avenue and Loma Linda Drive.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the call came in around 6:30 p.m. for the report of a pedestrian versus vehicle. The pedestrian was walking in the road when they were hit and was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was an adult man.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash. This is currently under investigation. and Union Avenue is still closed.
