Bakersfield police are investigating a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in East Bakersfield.  It happened just after 1:30 a.m. at Tulare Street and East Truxtun Avenue. BPD says the car that hit the pedestrian fled the scene.  The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with major injuries.  Traffic westbound at Baker Street is shut down. No word on when the road will reopen.  BPD is on scene investigating the crash.  We will continue to update you as soon as we get more information.
