BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in east Bakersfield temporarily shutting down a portion of Highway 178.
The crash happened just before 8 p.m. Thursday night in the westbound lanes of Highway 178 near Haley Street. Michael Magellan Hanash, 41, died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
It is not known if drugs, alcohol or speed played a role in the crash.
