A 23ABC viewer is warning others after she received a scam email from who she believed was Bank of America.
On November 1 around 8:45 a.m., a viewer received an email from someone claiming to be from Bank of America. According to the email, multiple computers had attempted to log into her account and "multiple password failures were present." The email then required the viewer to re-confirm her information, which included her credit card number, security code, and expiration date, as well as her Social Security number.
The viewer contacted Bank of America, who informed her that the email was a scam.
According to the Kern County Department of Human Services, if you see a suspicious situation, you are asked to call the Fraud Hotline at 661-633-7283.
