A day after he was gunned down in east Bakersfield, a vigil was held for Macieo McCurn.
While walking near the intersection of Gage and Knotts on Tuesday morning, 18-year-old Macieo McCurn was shot several times, later dying of his injuries.
The East Bakersfield High senior was two months from graduation when he was killed.
McCurn's family said that he was walking to a friend's house when he was shot multiple times. McCurn lost his father when he was young, also to a shooting.
"He would tell me that we wanted to go to BC and play football and continue on with that," said Elizabeth Smith, McCurn's aunt.
"He had all the ability to do that, he could have really done well and I'm just so sad that I can't see him succeed."
The vigil, which began at 7, was held near the intersection of Gage and Knotts where McCurn was shot. Family encouraged anyone who knew him to come pay their respects.
