Visalia reporter hit by DUI driver, taken to hospital for several injuries

A reporter in Visalia is in the hospital today after being hit by a DUI driver on Saturday night.

Sheyanne Romero, a Visalia Times-Delta public safety reporter, was crossing a street in downtown Visalia after 9 p.m. when she was struck by a van. 

According to the Times-Delta, the driver of the van was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The identity of the driver has not yet been released, and they've been arrested on allegations of felony DUI.

Police say the 28-year-old Romero was taken to a nearby hospital for several injuries, including severe head injuries. Family members say Romero is in a medically-induced coma at this time.
