BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Wednesday, the W.A. Thompson Inc. announced a permanent layoff of all employees at its beverage distribution center on District Boulevard.
The company said in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification letter that the layoff is due to the sale of its assets to Delaware-based company Harbor Distributing . The sale is scheduled to take place on or about December 6.
W.A. Thompson said it hopes to rehire most of its employees as part of the continuing operation of Harbor Distributing-- but there is no guarantee everyone will be re-hired. According to the WARN letter, the company said the layoffs will impact about 95 employees including drivers, sales support, and supervisors.
