Warm weather means more pests

Warm weather means more pests

Most of California has been experiencing near-record high temperatures within the past few days. While this spring-like weather may be pleasant for us to enjoy outdoor activities, it is also an early opportunity for pests to become active earlier than normal.

Some pests such as ants, roaches, and spiders become more active during warm and moist weather. With plenty of moisture in the valley from our most recent storms, and now April-like temperatures, our typical household pests will likely become active sooner.

23ABC’s Meteorologist Mike Boyce spoke with Bakersfield Pest Control who says if we continue to see extended periods of warmer than average temperatures, we may see a “brutal” summer in terms of pest activity.
